Mindless

Ongoing series of works – 2021

Ceramics, Sculpture and Drawing

‘Mindless’ is a collection of drawings created during a specific time of the day as a therapeutic exercise I have practiced periodically over the past five years. Almost every evening, I draw in small sketchbooks in a “mind dump” to release energy and wind down. This process helps me manage anxiety, quiet ruminating thoughts, and name emotions I often struggle to identify. These drawings unearth subconscious patterns and moods residing within my body. The act of drawing serves as a tool to self-regulate and manage my autistic symptoms. It gives me a sense of calm as the demands of the world quieten within me. Drawing is an outlet to feel joy and feed my curiosity as I experiment with different mediums, textural mark-making and playing with form.

This is my playful and experimental space. Each mark, stroke, shade is a like diary. They are personal to me and become a resource I can flick through for inspiration.
